The Soča region historical deposits

Permanent exhibition

A permanent exhibition named The Soča region and its historical deposits is to be seen at the museum. It is devided into three parts.

The archeological part on the first floor shows the Soča region in the period from the Early Stone Age to the arrival of the Slavs who finalize the ethnic semblance of the area. The narrative of the historical and ethnological part on the second floor begins with the rebelliousness of Tolmin people, including the great peasants' revolt in 1713. What follows is an original presentation of living in The Upper Soča Valley throughout the 19th and 20th century. Some of the most remarkable events of that time are set out as well.

In the basement rooms of the museum a selection of items from the art history collection is added.

Frescoes, canvases, plastic art works and precious furniture that had once decorated churches and homes of the wealthy in the Bovec, Kobarid and Tolmin areas are also permanently exhibited.

Beside the permanent exhibition a series of occasional exhibitions of different contents also takes place in the gallery on the ground floor.
