CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL TRAIL OF MOST NA SOČI

Published by LTO Sotočje and Tolmin museum, 2005
80 coloured pages, Slovene and English edition

Most na Soči is shortly named Most (Bridge). The place has been closely linked to the two bridges over Soča and Idrijca Rivers since the distant past. During the trail we are accompanied by an owl, which is, according to Greek mythology, a personification of wisdom. The owl shaped on a Greek vessel, known as skyphos, was found at Most na Soči during archaeological researches in 2001.
Most na Soči is known to European history as one of the most complex archaeological sites in the South-Eastern Alps. It is a real archaeological tresury therefore the greatest emphasis is put on the presentation of archaeological heritage. The importance of the place throughout a period of three millenia is manifested by the Bronze Age, Iron Ages, Roman and Early Middle Ages foundings. The guide also informs us about local sacral, historical, architectural and technical monuments. Furthermore, prominent personalities and their merits for the rising of Slovenian culture have been introduced to the reader.
Marked cultural trail is lead through Most na Soči and the nearby villages Modrejce and Modrej. Main interests of the villages surrounding Most na Soči (Drobočnik, Gorenji Log, Tolminski Lom, Kanalski Lom, Bača pri Modreju, Postaja and Kozmerice) are assessed in the continuation of the guide.
