Church of St Urh

Tolmin

Its beginnings date back to the Upper Middle Ages. The parish, whose first patron was St Martin, originally stood near the Church of St Urh. During the 10th and 11th centuries this was ostensibly the seat of an ancient parish.

Its current appearance is almost entirely Medieval. In the 15th century, when they started making frescoes, a presbytery and a vestry were added to the long oblong Roman aisle covered by open roofing.

The church was severely damaged during WWI, and later fully restored.
