Artilleryman Anton Perathoner
1888—1965, South Tyrolean carver

Carver Anton Perathoner was from St. Ulrich/Ortisei in Grödental/Val Gardena in South Tyrol. On the Isonzo front, he was an artilleryman in the 3rd Mountain Brigade, in the Imperial and Royal Mountain Artillery Regiment no. 14 (K. u. K. Geb. Art. Rgt. N. 14 Kaiser). He received a bronze medal for bravery (Bronzene Tapferkeitsmedaille).

During the construction of the Memorial Church in Javorca, he helped Remigius Geyling as his batman. With him, he even went to Vienna to get tools to build a Memorial Church.

Perathoner took over all important carpentry work in Javorca. He made an altar in the church; according to Geyling's design, he carved the doors of the tabernacle from linden wood, a large wooden cross with Christ, and a prototype of the honorary chairs in Javorca from yew wood.
